Yasmine Khan

about

I have a knack for making complex stuff easy to understand so that organizations can focus on what matters: people. How they think, what they’re going through and how your business fits in.

I am an expert at conducting research on sensitive topics. I frame and tell stories in a way that helps organizations level up their applied-empathy skills. I bring optimism, curiosity and enthusiasm to mobilize colleagues as we rally to make life better in meaningful ways.

I’ve worn many hats, whatever is needed of me, to practice impactful human centered design at organizations I believe in.

In this article I unpack the organizational habits that lead us to neglect service design. And offer strategies to make space for it.

Checking Bias & Listening to Financially Vulnerable Americans

Advancing Research Conference hosted by Rosenfeld Media (2020)

In my work in Fintech I’ve observed that decision makers trying to help people with money tend to over-index on personal responsibility. Rather than address institutional responsibility. About me

I have 10 years of experience bringing products & services to market.

I’ve worn many hats. Including researcher, product designer, and service designer. At some great places. Including Credit Karma, Autodesk, Even Responsible Finance and Included Health.

I come with subject matter expertise on household finances. I’ve done 6 years of human story based research on what it looks like to live paycheck-to-paycheck in the United States. And what this means for building trust-based relationships with consumers and the employees who serve them.

I uses a human-story-informed lens to help design products and services that speak to the real needs of more types of people. Making business run better in an observable way.

I have a masters in Teaching & Learning. I use my skills as an educator to create immersive learning environments. Where stakeholders can connect stories from research to product strategy & design stories.
